One of the primary objectives of the Westwood LMC is the total integration of information/library skills into the classroom curriculum. The Library Media Specialist and the classroom teachers meet and plan collaborative units and topics on a regular basis. The library curriculum is aligned with all teaching and learning processes in the school.

The Westwood Elementary Library Media Center is fully automated. Students and staff can independently check materials in and out. Students are encouraged to use the automated catalog for research projects or general information-finding.

The Westwood Elementary Library Media Center is considered the information center of the school. It is a learning laboratory and an extension of the classroom. In this way, students can develop information literacy skills and pursue lifelong learning.
